About This Ledger

The Silence Tax documents the costs extracted from women to keep systems comfortable.

It is not a movement. It is not a community. It is not a resource for self-help or improvement.

It is a record.

The ledger exists to document what is routinely absorbed, minimized, or erased when competence is expected but never acknowledged.

What Is Being Recorded

The Silence Tax records costs that accumulate through repeated accommodation. These costs are not symbolic. They are measurable losses that compound over time.
They are recorded in four currencies:

Time: Hours spent correcting preventable failures, stabilizing environments, and preparing for consequences you are not empowered to stop.

Energy: Ongoing cognitive labor required to translate reality into language others can tolerate, manage emotions you did not create, and hold context no one else will carry.

Sanity: The psychological cost of maintaining composure while your lived experience is reframed as attitude, sensitivity, or excess.

Opportunity: Career, financial, and life advancement forfeited while subsidizing the competence, reputations, and comfort of others.
These costs are real. They are rarely logged.

What This Project Does Not Do

The Silence Tax operates under a refusal to repair.

No advice is offered. No solutions are proposed. No reassurance is provided.

Advice often functions as additional labor disguised as care. This ledger does not add to the workload. The work here is documentation only.

How the Record Is Structured

The Silence Tax contains two distinct layers of evidence:

Audio Entries: Public documentation that captures recurring patterns of extraction. These recordings function as testimony.

The Archive: Permanent written Receipts. Each Receipt is a sealed record of a specific cost. Access is limited to Witnesses.

Audio is broadcast. Text is preserved.

Anonymity and Scope

No names are published. No employers are identified. No personal details are retained beyond what is required for documentation.

There are no profiles, origin stories, or creator narratives.

The ledger preserves. It does not expose.

What is named is kept. What is kept can't be erased. This is The Silence Tax.
